Looking for advice/help - I have a 2005 Z51 Vert with 99K miles - it had a new clutch installed about 6 months ago.
The sound is a very high pitched whine only in 1-4 gears when the car has warmed up and since this is a DD and the weather is cold in NJ I don't hear the sound anymore. When it's warm outside and the car is at normal temps it almost sounds like the car has a SC.
Anyone have any insight or advise as to what's causing this or is it something I have to get used to when its warm?
Check the trans fluid, especially if occurring at low rpms. Could indicate transmission wear and burning of fluids.
Thank you but when I heard the noise I changed the transmission fluid but made no difference. The sound still occurs - I am hoping it's not something super expensive to fix!
Hopefully, it's not that then. Just sounds very similar to my car right before I dropped my trans. My fluid was recently changed as well. I think the gears weren't getting properly lubricated creating excessive heat. Good luck sorting it out.
