I am no expert, but the more expensive sealed battery is most likely Absorbent Glass Mat (AGM) which is newer and better technology. Couple advantages to a corvette owner like me, who must store his car over a long cold winter season are: AGM hold a charge in cold weather better, with less recharge time needed to "float" back to a full charge.
Reduced need for charging equate to less "sulfation", which is what eventually leads to battery failure. These type batteries have other advantages, as well, thus the higher initial purchase price. If you live in a warm climate, not subject to seasonal car storage, probably not worth the extra money.
That load test will probably kill it. Kinda like forcing a 90 year old guy to run a 4-minute mile.
If I ever had a battery that lasted 12 years (especially an AC Delco), I would "pull the plug" on it, bury it in my back yard, and erect a marble headstone in its memory!

That is a record in my book! I would call Guinness..

I am still driving it too. I wonder if they load test it (or will dealer charge me for that?) or is there another way I can test the battery to see how bad it is or if it really is going bad? Just for the record.
