In my opinion its not worth the effort ....

many threads state that you would be better off with a converter

here is a direct quote from one guy who installed them all

I was the guy who installed the converter and even I was surprised at the results.
I've had 2.56's, 3.15's and 3.42's in my car and can tell you that going from 2.56 to 3.15 makes for a huge SOTP improvement but not a whole lot at the track.
There wasn't a lot of difference between the 3.15 and 3.42's either at the track or driving around town. The only noticeable difference was on the freeway as the 3.42’s revved noticeably higher but the upside is that 6th gear isn’t sluggish anymore and you can actually pass people or accelerate pretty quickly without having to downshift.

Here’s a thread I posted a while back with some highway RPM numbers:

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-t...-42-gears.html

Here are the gear ratios for a C6 A6 , you will see that the A6 is pretty steep already ...........

When I ordered my '08, I didn't know the 2.73 was a stand-alone option on a F55 car. I thought it was only available as part of the Z51 option. A month after I took delivery, I was investigating a gear swap. Fortunately, after the first few track events, I recognized I could finish the 1/4 mile at the high end of 3rd gear with the 2.56 rear. The 2.73 would have required a shift to 4th and crossed the finish a lot lower in the power band.

Now a 3.42 gear with the A6 will cross the stripe at the high end of 4th and the ET gain is about .10 sec. The downside is the ~$1500-2000 upfront cost for the swap and the ~9% higher fuel costs on the long term.

Darn rite I got consistent 1.5 -0 to 60 on the track with a 3400 converter on my first and only track outing so far.

Of course drag radials for street I can do wide open throttle from standing start on the street with Hoosier drag radials no pedaling (zero prep gas tanks full no passengers) and go straight too t/c off.

I had to play with the suspension a little bit but ain't no one hanging with me off the line so far on the street.

Coil overs 400 lbs springs rate rear 300 fronts.

That's down from track date springs rate 550 rear 450 front way better weight transfer no unloading.
