Default question on input shaft change

Hi Guys
I need to replace the input shaft on my 2005 C6 base Man6
I have the motor out and have access to remove the clutch release bearing/slave from the front end of torque tube, but the transmission end is still all bolted up.
Is it possible to change the the input shaft without removing the torque tube from the transmission end.....or has the whole torque tube have to be removed and withdrawn from the transmission end?
Cheers

You need to drop the rear cradle and disconnect the torque tube to install a transmission input shaft

Thanks for the reply
Just to confirm, thats the input shaft at the clutch end?
And it all has to be withdrawn back from the transmission end once the TT is removed?

Sorry, Not sure about that one. I thought you were talking about the transmission one.

If you are referring to the TT input shaft, the TT has to be removed from the transmission since the driveshaft comes out from the rear end of the TT. Then and only then, you can separate the input shaft from the rubber guibo.

Ok, so i took the TT off the car, removed the whole shaft assembly and both rubber couplers are in great shape, i now have to remove the input shaft to replace with new, including the bearing, retaining clip and slinger but am a little worried about the balancing issue, i dont have anywhere within a thousand miles that can balance prop shafts, so is there a way of marking before removal that will not require a re-balance?

If you are just replacing the input shaft, you do not need to have it banaced. We replace them without balancing.

Thanks for the replies guys, One last question then i'm sorted.
It seems that the rubber coupling has to be removed 1st because of access to the bolts on the input shaft, ......does it have to be marked in any way before removal?
Would have preferred to have just undone the input shaft bolts and not the coupling but its a weird angle on the bolt because of the shaft.

There are arrows pointed in certain direction on the outside of the guibo. Just make sure you install the guibo exactly the way is came off and you'll be fine.
