Hinson Shifter Install
THE GOOD:
The shifter arrived quickly and I installed the very next day.. It was a very straight forward install and I couldn't wait to get out on the road.. All I can say is I LOVE this shifter and the way it feels.. It is very stiff and bit notchy, but I like it like that.. It actually makes the car much more fun to drive..
THE BAD:
I have a terrible rattling sound coming from the shifter.. I was sure it was from my stock **** so I ordered a Hinson **** to go on the stock shaft I chose from Hinson.. The new **** came in today, but the loud rattling hasn't gone away.. I was very bummed, as now I'm into this thing for quite a bit of coin. I do love it, but the sound is loud on acceleration..
I called Hinson and spoke with Brian on the phone.. He couldn't be a better guy to work with.. Not sure if he is the owner, or a sales guy, but he is surely an asset to the company.. He informed me that this was a problem with some of the earlier model shifters, but should be fixed by now and maybe my car just wont work with this shifter.. He is trying a few fixes with his own personal C6 that has one of the older shifters with the known rattling problem.. I am waiting to hear back from him, hopefully this Friday, to see if we can find a resolution.. I have my fingers crossed because I really love it, but the rattling sound would make it a no go in my car..
Anyway, just wanted to put out my experience so far with this shifter and I will update as we figure it out.

It fixed the issue. There is a very slight and I mean very slight rattle but it's faint because of the drone. Not sure if it will help your situation but it did mine. I could feel the rattle in the **** and if I squeezed it tight enough it would go away. Hopefully you get it figured out.
After speaking with Brian, we agreed that an exchange could be made. The new shifter that is in there has all but eliminated the rattle (there is a faint rattle if you put your ear on the center console in the cup holder, but beyond that, nothing). Perhaps some sort of coating could be applied to the bearing to keep it from rattling around.
