Default Input shaft help

Like all projects, they always seem to snowball. What started out as just a simple transmission leak fix, has grown into a pain in my rear. I have an '05 that had a small fluid leak off the top of the transmission where there is some sort of gear indicator sensor. To get to it, I had to drop the whole rear-end and trans. Took me all of 5 minutes to pop the cover off, clean it up, and put on new RTV. Good as new.

Well, since I had everything dropped out of it, I decided to drop the torque tube and check out the clutch. She has about 110k miles, so I figured I would likely need a new clutch. As I get everything out, I find that the pilot bearing has seized up and the input shaft has worn down about 1mm from spinning inside the bearing.

Here's my problem, I can't find a replacement input shaft anywhere. I contacted RPM transmission, and they said this part was discontinued and recommended either buying a whole new torque tube, or finding a tool and die shop to fix it. Before I go that route, does anyone have any other ideas or know where I might find a replacement?

I'm currently waiting on a new pair of snap ring pliers to get that giant PITA ring off the back of the torque tube. Any help with the input shaft would be much appreciated.

You mean this?
You can find them but you will pay... they used to be about $500 from the dealer wich is what a used torque tube goes for. You will be hard pressed to find someone willing to part out a tube for this shaft as it's really the one piece that's worth money.

The shaft can be welded and then put on a lathe to cut the tip back down to the right size. That's what I did to mine, cost about $100. Same issue, bearing had locked up and worn the tip down

I shipped it to someone in Texas to do the work, I can send you their contact info if you need it.

Nothing like dangling the candy above the kid and never giving it to them.

I got a hold of Texas Drivetrain and they said they could repair mine for $75. Once I get that bigger pair of snap ring pliers I'm shipping it down there. Thanks for the recomendations.

Here's their website if anyone else needs it done.

That is who I used also.

I sent them a bearing along with the input shaft so they could be sure the two fit together properly
