Have ARH Long Tubes and what appears to be OEM Spark Plug wires.
The headers are not coated so I do have concern over plug wires even though I do not notice any exterior melting etc. This is on a 2011 GS.
Anyone added these "socks" to their OEM wires and recommendation on which ones to use that will fit.
I see a bunch of various post and some recommend just getting a cheaper pair from Amazon. I am fine with that as long as they will provide adequate protection.
I bought those $17 ones from amazon last year and I can't imagine any other brands being better. They haven't turned colors and aren't coming unraveled and you could buy multiple sets for what some people are charging.

I've never ran these and never melted a wire. Not sure why they're so popular now.. Are you peoples' plug wires flailing around??
The only reason I got these is that #4 spark plug wire was too close to the header tube (actually melted a bit - replaced and installed these sleeves) and didn't want to put just one sleeve on the one plug wire. Plus I think they look better and are a cheap mod.

Thanks in advance for your advice.

Agree that one of mine is a bit closer to the header. Don't see any damage at this time and just want to avoid future issue.
Checking out the various ones you guys have recommended and will be ordering some this week.
I believe that some header designs put the plug wire close to the openings. Just observed this on a friend's car where he installed a used set from a vette owner. Don't know if the ones he went with were specific to his year and that might be the reason why they are so close.
I did the MSD wires and DEI boots while doing the headers, is it necessary, I don't know but while I was at it I did it, looks "COOL" anyways

If I'm looking at your photo correctly, the locking tab on the header bolt just in front of the #6 header tube is on the bottom of the header pipe. It needs to be on top of the pipe. Just a heads-up.

It was corrected in the final check list Good eye in fact 2 were wrong, damn buddies fault
Plus 2 of those little springy clips were lost, man do they fly, but Stage 8 was great in replacing anything I screwed up

I'm glad I'm not the only one. Love the stage 8 fasteners, but I also had a couple of brain farts when I installed them on my headers.

Reason: Spelling
Agreed. Had a set, ran them for a month or so, I think it actually made it worse, so went back to factory.
The factory melt heat shields work great.
Agree. Stock wires and shields. Two of mine are damn near touching and they've still been fine so far on mine. Adding something like a sleeve would just be touching and seems like it'd make things worse
