Traction problems when launching C6 Z06
Hi Folks--------I'm having a blast with the 2007 Z06 that I picked up last week. It's my first time owning a Corvette. I am still getting my mind around the crazy power of the stock engine. Needless to say, I'm discovering the back wheels can spin quite a bit in both first and second gear. Believe it or not, the car still has the factory GoodYear tires on it. (It's a low-mileage car.)
I'm in the market for new tires, since the factory ones are starting to split (and ran over a nail, for good measure)! My driving style favors fast launches, though retaining the car's cornering ability would be nice.
Recommendations? I did a thorough review of all the tire-related posts in the forum. I will almost certainly avoid run-flat tires for cost reasons. Some options I'm considering are the Nitto NT555R drag radials in the rear, paired with NT555 tires in the front, though I can't get exact sizing for the stock wheels with those. Also in the running are the Pilot Super Sports from Michelin, which I'd be happy to buy if they will hook up reliably on the crummy roads we have in southern California. I am open to others, too, but I would not buy anything with a treadwear rating of less than 100 (Mickey Thompson, Hoosier, etc.). I will also be sticking with the stock wheels (19/18).
Thanks,
BGU
P.S. One of my so-called friends was all over me Saturday how Corvettes have poor weight distribution & don't perform well "until 35 miles per hour," so let's make sure our choice proves him wrong!

Its all a tradeoff and depends on what you want to do
Nitto Drag radials will not be good for cornering let alone last any length of time ...... but will stick like glue in a straight line
The Michelins are a good all around tire , you cant go wrong with them
