Default 2009 base engine

2009 corvette base I bought my vette to searlership and they said without looking at it. They will replace the engine. I have 240000 miles and my engine light is flashes and the engine started shocking. Change spark plugs and wires. Same thing. Four cylinders working 5 6 7 and 8 are out. Bought it to another shop called corvette world of dallas. And he said needs new oil pump, but given the miles he would replace the engine also. What should I do. I do not have 10000 dollars for a new engine. I just want my engine fix

You want C6 tech.

If your engine has 240k miles on it, the engine light is flashing, and your engine is making terrible noises... there's a good chance you need a new engine, yes. You can start by sending off your oil to analysis and towing the car to a reputable speed shop, but it's not unreasonable.

If you don't want to spend $10k on swapping in a new LS3, consider a used or remanufactured LS3.

Ten grand is probably about right, unless you can pull, repair, reinstall and tune it yourself. Got yourself a Corvette with a ton of miles, what could go wrong?

If it is under warranty then let them deal with it by all means.
The C6 people on this kind forum may be of better help to you.
This is the C5 section brother.

240,000 miles will not be under warranty. Be glad you got that many miles out of it and drop in a new one.

you can buy a new GM crate LS3 for under $5,000.

I'm curious as to the condition of the rest of the car?

At 240,000 miles these are great case studies for potential issues that we may all face if we keep our cars long enough...

Can you inform us as to any other issues that the car has at this mileage??

Interior Wear/Functions
Wheel Hubs
Exterior

Anything you can share would be helpful..

240k divided by 8 equals 30k a year in driving

Did you put all of these miles on yourself or are you the 17th owner? What types of driving led you to accumulate that many miles?

THX!!!
