2006 base coup floor latch release works, trunk release works but door handle button and key fob do not open door . Does anybody have any experience with this combination Does the whole latch mechanism in the pillar need to be replaced ?
If you are experiencing a noise inside the door and the window indexing down upon using the interior and exterior door latch buttons, and the door doesn't open then yes, sounds like the latch is bad. But make sure that neither one of the door buttons (inside and outside one) do not open the door. Not uncommon, and you'll find on YouTube a DIY to replace the unit.
There are issues with dirty outside door pads that sometimes can cause this problem, but usually the inside door button will work. Also, if your hearing the latch try to operate, this points to a bad latch. If you hear nothing trying to work, may need to look elsewhere.

Thanks yeah I cleaned the exterior door handle pad as per utube vid and I purchased a new interior button and it didn't work on driver door but works fine on passenger side door and when I put my ear to the latch it does make a noise but won't open so it's gotta be the latch is bad and needs replacement as I have never seen a fix for a latch Has anyone replaced one DIY or is it a dealer repair
Hey OP, I hope you don't mind, and have no intention of trying to hijack your thread, but I have a similar question. For the third time today (over the last 3 or 4 days), my passenger is unable to open the door from the inside by pushing the button. There is no discernable noise while the button is being pushed...just nothing. But, to thicken the pot, the other 4 or 5 times, it opens without a problem? I tell him it's user error (it's my 12 y/o son), to poke at him, but it doesn't make me a bit concerned. Any thoughts on that? And, OP, if this is a hijack, please let me know (I'm new here), and I'll bail.

If it's just the button at fault, the window will not index down and no noise will be made from the door latch. So it sounds like the button is not working. If the door opens from the outside OK, then it's probable that just the inside button is NG.

Hey there go on you tube and you will see how easy it is to remove door push button switch . Remove yours and exchange driver side one over to passenger door and see if that works and visa versa with driver door and then for $20 buy a new one if that shows you one is faulty
Thanks a lot Pilot, and Vettt. I ordered a new button for $20 online. Like simple to put in. If it's not the button, then I will put it in my new bin I bought for vette parts. Sure I'll need it anyway someday.
