Default full 3" exhaust

I have an 08 base with intake, 1-7/8 tsp headers and 3" xpipe with 150 shot of nitrous. The car currently has factory npp, Im wanting to get rid of the npp and run full 3" exhaust to the tips. I know there are a few companies that offer 2.5" back (B&B, hooker) but no 3". Is this because of fitment issues? I will also be putting on twin turbos this winter with 3" down pipes, I would like the car to already have a full 3" system on it before then. There are no exhaust shops I trust around here to fab something up, is there any options for me? Whats your guys input, thanks.

If you have an A6, the 3" doesn't fit (exactly, easily) by the transmission. If you have an M6 there are no fitment issues.

I have the A6, which I figured would cause fitment issues.

The clearance problems can be overcome with the application of appropriate force (hammer) if you don't mind some dents in your 3".

That being said, I've seen corvettes makes 1400+rwhp on 2.5" catbacks, so I would put the money elsewhere.

Not worried about the power aspect, just getting rid of the npp. My ocd wants me to carry 3" all the way but if its a big hassle I wont worry about it.

My '11 a6 gs has 3 inch across no fitment issues with Corsa sport or my home made alum system there's plenty of room no hammer to my pipes, did trim crap here and there not necessary.

I must add the Corsa sport p# 9328 with removable over axle pipes are ideal sense it allows wiggle to center as needed.

Wow $1,800 for $150 worth of materials, that's ridiculous. I was just hoping someone made 3" over axle pipes

The Bi-Modes from Z06 are 3" over axle. Look and operate just like the NPPs. The Z06 necks down to 2.5" at the muffler.

I just snagged a set from an e-bay bid of $429 free ship. lots there with big price tags but some are bid and best offer. Mine were new take offs and they look it. I'm hoping I can get a shop to do the headers to the mufflers for a lot less than a grand but like you I'm worried about what shop?

If you were local would have sold you a nice set for $250. Either way they are still 2.5" into the mufflers.

I'd suggest you get electric cutouts to dump the 3" prior to the over-the-axle pipe for those few times you have the WOT urge and save the NPP 2.5" for regular driving.
Just flip the switch or tie it into the skinnie pedal to activate. Best of both worlds for really big power when you want it and pleasure driving at part throttle.

I think thats what I am going to do, Iv never once ran my npp closed. I actually ended up just pulling the fuse because sometimes on startup my M2W would decide to close it. I figured since I never used it I would just get rid of it and save some weight.

just what you are trying to get away from .....not having 2 1/2 inch pipes

By the time the exhaust has traveled that far back it has cooled off enough that a 2 1/2 inch pipe is fine .......

Yep and the 3" before the 2 1/2" gives you a lot more volume throughout and more flow over the curves.
