I have subscribed to 125 threads for forum members who have suffered column lock failures (I had eight failures)...if you are interested, I PM me and I will send you the links to some or all if them if you want.
Chevrolet has discontinued the column lock motor, it is no longer able to be ordered. So those of us with m6 05's are screwed if the column lock motor fails or the gear fails since this part is no longer available. I guess that would render our cars inoperable even if you have the eliminator. Thanks GM
I've gone through 3 eliminators...2 from Corvettes of Houston and one from the cat that used to work for then and made the eliminator for them. I ordered that one from him on ebay, I just put one on that I got from Zipp. I also just received a new CL module noe called ignition immobilizer....guess I'll install it and reinstall the eliminator just in case my old column lock module was bad.

You are correct about being screwed...you end up with a 3,200 pound lawn ornament...

You install the eliminator when the column lock is in the unlocked position. The column lock is then totally eliminated (disconnected) and will not lock the steering wheel.
I understand that its installed when the wheel is unlocked, I've been through 3 eliminators in the past 6 yrs. I'm on my 4th right now......they can and do fail....as does the column lock module which you plug the eliminator in to. I'm just saying if by chance the gears or motor goes out before a person could put the eliminator on that you're screwed.
