2005 ECM Replacement Where to buy?
If this fixes it or not I will report back on all threads.
The more I think about things the more it points to the ECM.
The lack of codes sometimes.
The different codes sometimes.
The Traction Control System messages sometimes
The CMP not showing correct RPM and never a code for a CMP.
Cool breezy day idle for hours without a problem
All the grounds are clean and tight.
The ECM is one big common denominator.
I have a C5 service manual and the trouble shooting procedures are identical to the C6 in almost every regard. And always when you go through them they all end up with replace the PCM/ECM.
Hopefully this will let me start a whole new tread on how Chuck CoW's Booster tune has changed the car.
I am a software/firmware/hardware/electronic engineer that designs and builds Slot Machines. I will give a very detailed account of the changes from the seat of the pants.

Got the ECM from Chuck today and after a near heart attack because the engine would not start, I did some research and found the theft deterrent needed to be relearned.
So as of this moment the the car is running and in about an hour I will know if it is fixed.
The CMP is still only showing a static RPM. I was hoping a new ECM would fix that. And maybe that is the problem but it sure doesn't deliver a code.
Ran for an hour and a half. but a breeze came in with overcast skies. So I will try again tomorrow to be sure. It was still really hot, so I think I may be home free.
I ran the car for an hour and a half, and all is good.
This is the same ambient temp it would only run for 40 minutes before.
So I am going to say replacing the ECM fixed it.
So thanks to Chuck CoW for his help.
Now to actually drive the car more than around the block and see what this tune has done for it.
I will post this fix in the other threads I started so they don't dead end without a solution.

Keep us posted on any other issues that come up and how the drive goes, even though it may take a little while to "Trust" or feel 100% confident in it again, it will only be a matter of time and driving it more and more that will build that back up!
Thanks,Matt

I took it for a short spin and I guess I don't understand what the "Tune" is supposed to do. It seemed to shift a bit differently(maybe), I don't really feel any difference.

If you have not gotten on it you really won't feel the difference, especially for an automatic!
Thanks,Matt
Thanks.
No, I haven't really stuck my foot in it hard, hot muggy day and traffic sucks. Cars are slow and dangerous.
They take so long to build speed and so much room. When I do I will report, now that I understand where I might feel a difference.

We only did the CoW BOOSTER! mod to the ECM while it was on the bench but aside from that the ENGINE and TRANS computers
are totally stock.
You should absolutely notice the CoW BOOSTER! or the change in the throttle. It's VERY noticeable.
One thing to make mention of.... You explained on the phone that you really only wanted the car to run again and that
you were not interested in performance, so we didn't do a tune.
On that note, I have heard of people "not really noticing" CoW BOOSTER! Those that have it will raise an eyebrow
when they hear that, but if your one of those people that barely presses the throttle when you drive....
It will almost feel like stock to you and if you don't ask for much.... You won't get it.
Keep me posted and after you've driven it for a week, please send that core pcm back to me.
Thanks very much!

I'm fine with that. I mistook a tune for a BOOSTER. I thought they were one and the same.
So that being said what does a BOOSTER do? What should I look for?
I didn't have an opportunity to stomp on it.
When I do I will report back.
Thanks,
Ted
WOT will remain the same as always....
A Chuck CoW TUNE on the other hand, will totally change the engine and trans behavior in a BIG way.
Chuck CoW
