Thats my concern too. They were still together until the converter came off and it took some time but I'm 95% sure I got it all out. It's shifting and driving better than ever now. So we will see if it breaks lol

Not sure what's all the confusion about numbers don't lie
2.56 x 4.03 = 10.31 first gear
3,42 x 4.03 = 13.78 that'd over 33% better gear does it count? it does for me that's 33% better in all 6 gears.
The hole departure with good tires is incredible, so what's the argument and why the confusion?
I got this on my own years ago my car had 300 diff went to 3.55 great then 4.11 then 5.14 never went back from there this was back then when there was no overdrive today we double overdrive and unfortunately some refuse take advantage of it, better you than me
You get the power then why not enhance it with gears.
I guess this performance thing is not for every body

But like I've stated if it's not broke don't fix it. My cars already ran multiple 10s n/a with a small cam and a messed up torque converter. Once my rear end goes I'll swap to my 3.42s. The most I've read anyone picked up from gears is about 10th of a sec. But with converters its a lot more than a 10th. My last converter would only foot brake to about 1500, my new one foot brakes to 2500ish so that right there is going to most likely make it more than a 10th of a sec faster.

yes some cars do great with gears. A powerglidecar can pick up HUGE from a hear change, there won't be any HUGE difference with a 6l80 car. Plus the less shifts usually the better a car does in a 1/4.

Like i said when mine breaks I'll swap them. But for the time being my car is faster than 90% of N/a ls3 cars so i must be doing something right. Plus I'm trying to avoid 5th gear in the 1/4 mile.

Just for reference, both the quickest LS2 and LS3 A6 bolton cars run a 2.56 gear. ![Big Grin](https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin5.gif)
Maybe when the power level is below 500, the 4th gear shift takes too big of a hit.

Not much of a debate lol. It's a spare rear end I have for when this one breaks. Plus like I said I'm happy with how my cars been and it's only getting faster both na and on nitrous. If you guys want a which rear gear is better for cars north of 500 that should be another thread. Or someone bring their car with similar mods and 3:42 out to El Paso and ill gladly race it.

I meant nothing by that....just the gear topic has been around for a long time. The 2.56s most of the time with an high stall will be faster.....only because most will not buy whats needed to take advantage of the 3.42s....like some suspension to handle the extra shock for the torque hit....i ve been pretty fast NA with 2.56s....broke the rear diff after about 200 passes or more....swapped in an zo6 3.42 rear an not looking back! But thats my story. Like said i meant no harm
