Default 2012 c6 exhaust question

Hi All! I am new to this site and would appreciate some insight. Plan on installing axle back exhaust (B&B Bullet) on my vette. I plan on doing the work myself but am concerned with how high I need to jack up the rear of car to remove stock mufflers. I don't want to cut the pipes as I could sell or reinstall at a later time if wanted. Also, any tips on keeping the front from moving forward while jacked/jacking (maybe just wheel chocks)? Thanks!

Hi and welcome to the Forum!
A general rule is to allow about 36" which will take some significant jacking. You might try backing the car up on Rhino ramps or something equivalent for a little more height. Definitely would want to chock the front wheels, BUT, there have been instances of chocks slipping and the car falling. Had that almost happen to me once (car didn't fall, but front moved and the car was leaning forward on the jacks). Got out from under the car in a hurry! Obviously, I now recommend using a lift!
Forum sponsor Zip Corvette Parts had an article in Corvette Magazine a while back about installing a new exhaust in a C6 – hopefully this will help you: http://www.corvettemagazine.com/tech...-installation/
Good luck with your exhaust work.

Thanks for your help! My biggest concern is the car rolling forward. I might bring it to a muffler shop but I hate having anyone work on my cars.

I got them out and installed NPP mufflers by backing onto a set of Rhino ramps. It was tight, but doable.

That's great to hear I was hoping for that. I figure if I need more clearance I can jack it up higher with the ramps in place. Thanks!

I did my complete header install and muffler swap with the bottom of the car about 18" off the ground. Anything much higher than that and I would have been looking for a lift - it get's pretty sketchy.
