Default P0449 Code will not clear

Hello Guys,
Had the P0449 code come up so I removed the vent solenoid under the car as recommended and found it non operable with 12v current applied.
Bought another valve and replaced but the code will not clear. The replacement valve and required pigtail worked with 12v current applied.
I clear the code with my scanner and then rescan and the code remains. Any ideas?
TIA
Sam

I think you have to do a drive cycle to clear the code, or if you have a Tech II you can force the computer to run the evap test.

the code should clr, 2 drive cycles would confirm the problem is fixed. are you clearing it with the ignition on engine off?

Fuse is probably blown, can't remember the number but it's under the hood.

So how did you make out I seem to be having the same problem. I did find a pin bent when trying to plug the wiring harness adapter that came with the solenoid and fixed the problem that night but next morning code came back on. Can it be gas cap? I got this code following putting gas in not filling it but just putting gas in.

In order for the drive cycle to work the fuel level must be between 15-85% (if I remember correctly), so if you only fill it up halfway the computer will not run the test in order to clear the code.

I have a scan tool cleaned the codes but comes right back on. So I don't have to wait for drive cycles. This fix seems to work for all but me lol. I even put a new gas cap on just to be sure cause mine was very sloppy and the new one is miles better still same result

This. A regular scanner will not clear the code.

all fixed I had a bad wiring harness that came with the solenoid needed to plug the new part into my car. New harness and cleared the codes and all is good. So when changing it if you need the harness make sure the plugs all look good mine had the male end both prongs were not the same length making connections on only one. Autozone went good for it as it had a life time warranty on part.

Sorry for the delay. I drove the car finally today and after two minutes the code cleared. I rescanned and found no codes. I believe the problem is gone. Thanks again to this forum and its great members!

Initially, the pigtail was defective. After swapping it out the code cleared quickly. I will post again if it reoccurs. From reading on the forum it appears that changing the gas cap is also part of the solution. Let us know if that does it, good luck.

That was mine exact problem the wiring harness pigtail that came with the new evap vent solenoid was bad got a new one problem solved. I did try a gas cap when getting the new harness although way tighter and better than my gas cap it did not do anything and as soon as I fired it up code came right back on. I did purchase anyways. But pulling the pigtail off it was clear as day one pin was almost flush in the plastic housing making no connection at all. Maybe it was me? It is super hard to connect one handed as not enough room for both hands. But they covered it anyways as a defective part. All is good now. Thanks for all the replies.
