Had to remove abs module to get to a power steering issue. Now putting it back together and brakes are soft. I read where I need to bleed all four calipers while car is off,, cut it on and bleed, then back off and bleed. I also read whee ppl bleed the brakes normally then find some gravel and lock the brakes up where the car will skid in the gravel.....
Any pointers?
To properly bleed the ABS part of the system, you'll need a tech II or a tool like that to command the module to bleed. There are some threads on here about it. Good Luck.
ABS unit has a pump in it, and best to just cycle the pump via a Tech 2 to get the air out of the pump section as you are bleeding the brakes.
There is a way to jump out the pump in the harness wiring, but at the same time, easy way to burn the module out if you jump the wrong wires.
as for last resort, go find a loose road corner after you initial bleed, get into the corner with enough gas to kick the AH in so the car tries to self correct ( to active the ABS pump) to shove the air out of it that way, then re-bleed the system again.
Note, may have to do this a few times to get the last of the air out of the lines and pump.
Hence the ABS system has the normally valves that is uses for the ABS side if the wheel start to skip to stop fluid from going to those brakes, but it also has a pump to kick in to acitive some of the brakes on the car to self correct the car if you it starts to slide to much as well.
