can the tranny be tuned to shift quicker up and down when using the paddles? Sorry about this guys, I didn't realize that my question would be my first post. But just in case someone wants to answer, my car is a 2007 C6 vert. Thanks Mike

Reason: not enough information too answer.
Yes. The first thing a tuner, or you, should do is update your TCM with the '08 GM factory software. That will help some. Then a tuner can build on that foundation and make some significant improvements. Depending on your previous paddle shifting history, you may or may not be completely happy with the result. It won't be as good as many Euro models but it will be much better. You may also want to consider doing the F1 paddle shift mod where you rewire the steering wheel paddles, or buy new modified paddles, to make the right paddle upshift and the left paddle downshift.

Do you think that the dealer would do the upgrade to the 08 software. I've heard on the forum that COW would do the upgrade, but my future is a 2016 Z51 with the M7 and at least 2LZ. I found that in competition mode it seems to shift quicker, up and especially down...

My experience with dealers is they will normally only do factory authorized repairs, meaning probably not.
You need to find a good reputable LS tuner. My 2007 Z 51 Coupe has been modified by a tuner. The original owner had it done, and I have no idea what programming was done, but it shifts very hard in "D" (the auto position), and in Sport (manual paddle shift) as well. The only way to up-shift smoothly at lower rpm is to do it manually. In auto it holds the gear change too long for my taste, but when I hammer the throttle at about 30 to 40 mph it downshifts to first. It's awesome sending the car a bit sideways but under control and gets rubber in 2nd at over 60 mph and even third gear at 80 mph. It's difficult to determine if there's any difference between Competition mode and normal driving mode.
I'm sorry that I can't tell you how it was done, but this is what you may expect from such a re-tune of the ECU.
If I had my options, I'd soften up the auto portion a bit, by lowering shift point rpm and and keep the manual shifts really hard as they are now. You may be able to get your tuner to customize the upshift points in auto as well as tighten up the manual shift feel.
I had mine tuned in drive mode to up shift by itself after down shift it this way will shift at what the shift rpm I had it tune to shift at cause frankly you just can't beat the computer and so I can drive and not worry about shift rpms, I don't even use S mode I had it tune to do all I want in drive.
My '11 gs shifted 500 rpms after paddle request and that crap I didn't want to deal with some time going to the limiter to waist time to me that was a mistake all together.

All the different transmission modes are tuneable separately. You can choose when it upshifts and downshifts (both RPM and speed) and how fast (hard), etc., etc.
