Default Theft Deterrent System

Good Morning Guys I am new to the corvette forum and I need some advice. Yesterday my 2008 corvette drove perfect but then I unhooked the battery and replaced it with a good battery . Then when attempting to start the car it tries to turn over but on the dash a yellow car with a padlock beside it flashes on the dashboard. Does anyone know how to bypass this ?

You may try this. I copied it from the owners manual.

Immobilizer Operation
The vehicle has a passive theft-deterrent system.
The system is automatically armed when the ignition is turned off.
The immobilization system is disarmed when the ignition is turned to OFF/ACCESSORY or START and a valid transmitter is found in the vehicle.
You do not have to manually arm or disarm the system.
The security light comes on if there is a problem with arming or disarming the theft-deterrent system.
The system has one or more keyless access transmitters that are matched to an immobilizer control unit in the vehicle. Only a correctly matched keyless access transmitter starts the vehicle. The vehicle
may not start if the keyless access transmitter is damaged.
If the engine does not start and the security light comes on, there may be a problem with the immobilizer system. Press the START button again.
If the vehicle does not start and the keyless access transmitter appears to be undamaged, try another keyless access transmitter. Or, place the transmitter in the transmitter pocket. See “NO FOBS DETECTED” under DIC Warnings and Messages on page 4-51
for additional information. Check the fuse. See Fuses and Circuit Breakers on page 6-103. If the engine
still does not start with the other transmitter, the vehicle needs service. If the engine does start, the first transmitter may be faulty. See your dealer/retailer or have a new keyless access transmitter programmed to the vehicle.
The immobilizer system can learn new or replacement keyless access transmitters. Up to four keyless
access transmitters can be programmed for the vehicle. To program additional transmitters, see “Matching transmitter(s) to Your Vehicle” under Keyless Access System Operation on page 3-5.
Do not leave the key or device that disarms or deactivates the theft deterrent system in the vehicle.

Hey guys just a update on this situation , so the car went to the dealership the theft deterrent system was on and locked the vehicle , I had to replace the key and they unlocked the theft system , the car still will not start they are now saying the fuel pump is bad and needs to be replaced which is strange because the car was running fine before I unhooked the battery .

You may want to advise the dealer before replacing the fuel pump to check the condition of the fuel pump relay and the socket that it fits into at the fuse block.
A few pumps have been replace needlessly because of this issue, worth a shot.

Hey guys just another update , just got back from the dealership I have replaced the fuel pump relay with a new one and the car still will not turn over so I am guessing it is the fuel pump sadly...

Here's a example of what I was referring to in the fuse box (burnt looking contacts). So if the dealer is confident that you don't have this issue, and power is at the pump, yes it's sad your looking at a costly repair, good luck.

I installed a bluetooth engine Immobilizer in my c6 from iDisarm.com

It just basically doesn't let you start the car unless your phone is pair with the device. You are free to install the device to kill the state, or fuel pump, or ecu... Up to you, more you hide it the harder it is for someone to bypass it but seeing how no one would know you have it installed you could install it anywhere and still be ok.

I think you'd be pretty screwed if you lost or broke your phone.

Shouldn't the dealer have taken care of that?

Hopefully the owner would know which circuit had the immobilizer attached to, just need to replace with a good fuse and he's running.

Yea you know where you installed the Immobilizer gadget so if you do lose your phone you just bypass the gadget. Person trying to steal your vette wouldn't know where its at on the other hand...
