Alright you Corvette wizards I've got one that'll really stomp you.. I drove to the store and backed into a parking spot uphill and shut it off. When I came back and turned it on the crank was extremely slow it almost didn't start but it did, when I released the ebrake I had little or no power steering as the steering was heavy and my RPMs were at 0. When I took off, the car was hesitating almost as if it weren't running on all 8 cylinders and it was backfiring like CRAZY, the RPMs still remained at 0 both on the HUD and on the gauge cluster. When I got back to the barracks I shut it off and turned it on again, the crank was a bit faster and the RPMs were actually working but I don't know if the power steering was heavy or if the car was hesitating again as I didn't drive it.. any ideas?? Thanks for any an all comments guys
I wasn't aware the battery could cause such detrimental issues but it's certainly worth a check I'll use my tool to check voltage as well as CCAs tomorrow thanks brother!

Ever find out what it was? Same issue with mine, drove it to some meets turned it off and on and bam my ABS light came on. Struggled to turn on then Engine light came on and same issues you had occurred to me. I heard it was a bad starter, could be the spark plugs too maybe?
It could be a bad starter via the positive cable and the melted or toasted lug on the starter. With heat these can get ruined over time and basically just fall apart. It may look OK from outside but when you take starter out and examine it you might find it in bad shape. That's what happened with mine new starter fixed it.

Hey there can you please tell me if you found the solution to this issue? I just experienced this with my zo6 today 😬

i faced the same issue and we found out that the original starter cannot handle the heat from the headers “specially if you had custom headers” so probably you need to get a new heavy duty starter + a heat shield wrap for the headers. Regarding the backfire or misfire it could be that the crank sensor is misreading the timing because of the bad start which causes the misfire. My suggestion is to replace the starter and see if the issue persists or not.
