hey guys gonna be doing a head cam intake on my ls2 this winter I'm gonna run the lg g6x3 with a fast 102 but I'm stuck on which heads to go with I see great results from the prc 227s and the tfs 225s. I know a lot of guys pair the g6x3 and tfs 225 together with great results. But the trickflows are a bit pricier and I've read you have to get aftermarket rockers? Any help would be greatly appreciated, sorry if this thread has been done before couldn't find it in the search function.
I'm really curious here as well... would really like to see HP numbers with this combo on any LS2 or LS3....
Every-time I have asked this... I never get any numbers... ported as well
THX Guys/Gals
I'd really like to know never seen a direct comparison between the two with the same cam. If they'll perform similiarly then the prc 227 will be my go to if the trickflows are the proven to be the best end all of the heads then I'll spend the extra and get the trickflows
Just throwing this in the mix for you. Several people have gone to LS3 heads on LS2 engines. Total cost for heads, rockers, and intake manifold is around $1500. Add tax, gaskets, IM porting, etc and you're still under $2K. Going that route means you either have to flycut the pistons for valve clearance or re-think the cam.

not the route I want to go money isn't an issue ls3 heads won't get me performance wise where I want these two heads on a ls2 are proven to make more and perform better then ls3 heads on a ls2
The TF 235 heads I had on my LS2 came with non GM valve geometry that allowed the use of more aggressive cams without flycutting for valve clearance. If the 225's have that, it could account for extra expense.
I went with a set of Mamo worked TF heads, could not beat the price. They are the as cast version worked by Tony. I have not got the set up dyno'd sense the install but I am not disappointed. I opted to get a set of YT roller rockers recommended by Tony. Contact Tony if your thinking about a set of TF heads.
Hey, no fly cut the heads are not milled. I opted to use a thinner head gasket .040 for options later if I decide to got F/I. Also I'm running a mild cam 230/234 .613/.598 114

You can run stock rocker arms if you get them with the pm guides, I'm running TEA TFS 215's, I really like these heads and they make good power
I ordered mine from TEA and they can do the guides and I also had them turn down some ls3 intake valves to lighten the valve train cause I like to turn high rpm, I'm pretty sure Brian Tooley also offers the pm guides
You can get the Trick Flows from Brian Tooley Racing, I went with the as cast 220's and had Brian finish them plus they port matched my Fast intake to the new heads. Had mine milled .030 to bump the compression to something like 11.2 or 11.4 (been a while so don't remember exactly) I did not have the PM guides which I wanted but did use the Yella Terra rockers with 3/8 push rods and it turned out to be a pretty stout setup putting down 503 to the tires on a 97 degree day in St. Louis
My cam was a custom grind but I wouldn't hesitate to go with something off the shelf these days, you can get same performance if not better with the newer lobes available.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do.
do you like the yella terra rockers or would you wish you'd have gotten the pm guides? Also did you need to flycut your pistons? Sounds like a good sized custom cam

I did like the YT's and would have done the PM guides as well but would have had to wait a while back then and needed the heads right away. As mentioned, the Trick Flows give more clearance than the stock heads on an LS2 application so I had plenty of room. Always measure to be on the safe side.
There are some great DIY threads on here that outline the swap, great to read over so you can review all aspects before hand.
Trick Flow as cast 220's hand finished by Brian Tooley, Yella Terra's, factory head gaskets, LS7 lifters, 3/8 pushrods and ARP head bolts all served me well.
Lastly, make sure you get the right spring combo for your cam and heads, stability and seat pressure are extremely important!

most definarly will keep posted, I had no idea trickflows offered more clearance that's a major relief
