Mileage Issue ??
But when the car was 1 year old, an emission station reported the mileage as 34000, next year 49000, next year 77000 (all even numbers), the next year 9,000. The car was traded in for a Cadillac in the 4th year when the mileage was recorded as 14,753.
My local Chev service manager said, "I think the BCM records the mileage, but I don't know how to read it."
Question: does the body control module record the mileage that can be read by the dealer?
Thanks much for help,
Charlie
When a dash gauge cluster is replaced, it needs to be flashed to be the same mileage that the car actual has/what is recorded in the BCM.
So having said that, would bank that at some point the dash gauge was replaced, but it was not flashed to the actual mileage of the car.
All that is needed is a Tech II to pull the actual mileage of the car from the BCM to confirm, and if the odomiter is off, the Tech II can be used to flash the real actual car mileage into the dash gauge cluster as well.

Thanks Dano. I took to car to the local Chevy dealer. He read the mileage. The dash is correct, 35xxx.
Now to put some front discs and pads on shorty.
Take care, Charlie
