What fuel pump for 700+
Hi everyone
I've been trying to decide what fuel pump to buy and I'm just staring to get overwhelmed.
The car is a 07 base, A6, A&A S/C kit with a 3.4" pulley, 72lb injectors, BAP,
Iron block, dished pistons, aem meth kit (single nozzle) runnin 100% meth and a cam will be going in this winter.
I'm just looking for a fuel pump to get me between 700 and 750 whp
I was really set on the ecs stage 1 kit.
But then came across some info on just upgrading to a z06 fuel pump and keeping the BAP.
If the z06 pump would get me where I want to be, I would much rather go that route Vs adding a 2nd fuel pump kit.
The more I looked into the z06 pump, the more overwhelming it became with all the mixed reviews.
Can some one clarify this for me, or give me some other pump options that will fit in the factory housing to reach 700 to 750whp... I do not want to re-engineer the fuel system. I wouldn't mind having to modify the housing a bit to make a pump fit.
I am am a mechanic by trade, I have plenty of tools... I know dropping the tank in these cars can be a complete PITA But I'm not afraid of labor, If I'm not in the garage working on this car, I would find something else to work on.
So I'm more concerned with keeping cost down.

theres a guy that just posted in the fi/nitrous board that has the zo6 pump and meth making 769 thru a 6l80. i went ecs stage 1. I like that it's upgradeable in the future if i decide to go e85.

I wouldn’t trust a Z06 pump alone at 700. I ran one to about 600 but over that added an ECS stage 1 which is an easy add on. I moved on from that but it worked great at 780 rwhp.

I appreciate both replies so far, but this is a perfect example why it gets confusing lol.
I got one guy saying there is a member on here pushing the z06 pump beyond my goals and he is happy..... the other reply saying don't do it....
I really don't see my self ever pushing this car past this power level, to much to upgrade for what.. another 100 hp? (Trans, supercharger, rear end,) I never bought this car to race, I bought and built this car because I enjoy driving fast cars.
Also. I'm not bashing it, but I will not run e85 in this car either, I ran e85 in my last car, and for me.... just to much headache for a street car.
E85 is great, there is a lot of power that can be made from it, me personally... I'm just not a huge fan of it in a weekend warrior street driven vehicle that occasionally will sit for a few weeks at a time.
So all that said.... does that help shine some more light on if the z06 pump will work for me?
Realcanuk- is there a reason why you say you wouldn't push the z06 pump that hard?

I didn't try it at that power, but I think its not enough pump for 700 rwhp. If it works its probably near its limit, and dependant on the meth helping it out to get there. After spending what it costs to do what youre doing, I wouldn't risk the motor to save 1000 bucks.
The ECS stage 1 is an easy install, no trouble, and cheap insurance IMO.

My buddy just made 750whp on a Walbro 450. A&A kit, cam, meth, and 10psi. Made 800 on a 50 shot with a dedicated fuel system.
I have a 30k mile z06 pump if you want to go that route.

To confuse you even more I was going thru this a month or so ago as well and ended up going ecs stage 1. I'm hoping to make right at 700 with meth and 93. I thought about the zo6 pump but after researching it I read about them failing in some instances. That means dropping the tank again to replace if it happens. My ecs setup was easy as hell to install and you can't even see it with the fender liner in and wheel on. If it goes out it will take 10 minutes to replace.
