I have a rubbing scraping kind of sound coming from the right side of my car when I first start out driving. After a while and a few miles the noise stops. I thought it was a wheel bearing but when I checked to see if the wheel was loose,, it was very tight both front and back. does anyone have any idea what could be causing the noise.?

transmission should not be source of noise, would have other concerns besides the noise............
also the axle nuts may have lost torque even if wheels did not feel loose........
pretty easy to check them for torque just to be sure................
axle lube does degrade even if changed, and also it seems to matter which type of axle lube was used......................
When you say axle,,,what axle do you mean? Where is it lubed at?
I have checked to nut torque and it is correct.
When I had the brakes and shocks replaced the mechanic told me the boots were torn could this be part of the problem?
Also I noticed when I take my foot off the Excelerator the noise stops so if I’m just kind of coasting I don’t hear it but is soon as I step on the gas it comes back again but after a while no noise at all under any circumstance.

I was checking the noise again today and it seems to be coming from the front right of the car,,maybe in the engine compartment. Like the manifold maybe.
The sound goes away after the engine worms up.
Any other ideas?
Rubbing and scraping are two different sounds....IMO
More info needed.
In the mean time, sound may be tricky and it may not be from the right side.
Rubbing make me think something is rubbing a tire or perhaps a shock absorber or swaybar.
Scraping more difficult. Rear axle nuts are notorious/ Perhaps accessory belt pullies, torque tube/ axles, brake pads/ calipers - something metal to metal.
Interesting it is mentioned the sounds stop after a few miles or 5 minutes I assume.
Something expands with heat, centrifugal force centers, material wears away until next time...just thinking out loud with these comments.

Well, that's my two cent comments....good luck.
Thank you for your two cents those are really good suggestions. I just had the brakes and shocks replaced but this sound was coming from the car before this was done, and it seems to be getting louder over time.
I think it might be coming from somewhere around the manifold and as it heats up the sound disappears. it’s more of a hollow kind of a sound that is difficult to describe. The car will be going to the mechanic next week and I’ll have him look at it then.
Thanks

Next time you hear it, press the snowflake (A/C compressor disable) button and see if that makes the noise change or go away.

We have a cold front here so I wasn’t using the A/C yesterday and the sound was still there. But yesterday the car was outside and I found a black wet spot on the garage floor that looked like it came from the exhaust system. So I’ll have that checked when I have the car in the shop next week. Could turn out to be an exhaust leak.
Update.... upon further investigation I have found that it only makes the noise when the car is in gear. So now I’m thinking it has to do with the rear end,, maybe the differential of transmission. The trans is due for its 100,000 mile filter and fluid change which I will have done very soon. We will see if that eliminates the noise.
