I have a base model 2009 and I think the worst part of the car is that it's geared too high. I wish 6th was usable at a lower speed and 1st was lower so I didn't have to ride the clutch as much. I've been playing with rpm calculators online and 3.73s would take care of my 6th problem. My question is, would 3.73s make a noticeable difference in taking off slowly in 1st, or should I get 3.90s? I know I don't want 4.10s because I have an 85 camaro with 3.73s and T5, which would be like 4.10s with TR6060 and I find it a bit too low. Thanks
I have 3:73 with a Quaife and I am very happy with the way it performs. Many people have 4:10 rears and are very happy with them. I have never driven both to see the difference.
Is it noticeably easier to take off than the 3.42s? I find if I'm trying to take off slowly, like in traffic, I have to ride the clutch too much.
I did it because of the cam I put in the car, so yes it starts off better, but not much better than it did when I had a stock cam, so with a stock cam, it should be better.
Ones you try 4.10 there will never be any more questions no more bugging off the line with less rpms more consistent less clutch fail and much faster so all the above is taken care off.
A huge bonus it will allow a larger cam with no bucking.
I have 3.90 gears, very nice upgrade. 1st goes to 50, 2nd goes to 85ish, 3rd goes to 110-115.
I do like that I can start off in 2nd gear really easily and smoothly. Never been in a 4.10 car, I think that may be a tad too short for me but im sure it would still be very streetable.
