What have some of you with headers done to control melted plug wires and starter problems, I've got the woven socks for the plug wires, what has worked well for you. THANK YOU.

Crammed and stalled with 1-3/4 ARH ceramic coated (locally). Running MSD wires w/o any protection. I have DEI reflective tape on the starter.
4000 or so miles without any issues.

The LS motor and headers the good thing is they seem to have good distance between the header and plug wire. If you go with a 1.75 inch tube that will help more. The starter that can vary depending on header manufacturer and tube size.

I use the Accel ceramic wires, they can sit right on the header without burning.

I bought some of the foil tape and covered every wire near the headers and converters.

I’m running stock wires with my TSP 1 1 7/8” headers - no clearance issues. No melted wires.

We've got wires with 135 degree boots and Kevlar heat socks that we use in our packages and they work great with headers. Please feel free to call or email us anytime with questions.

I have the same, Kooks 1 3/4", with stock plug wires w/Hinson socks (they are longer than most socks and go all the way to the coil). Nothing on the starter because I think the OEM Cats got just as hot as the headers, if not more so. I also used insulated wrap on the clutch line on the Drivers side, and on the transmission cooler lines.

The Kooks have been on for over a year now with no heat related issues.

Just turn the plug wires so they are furthest away from each header pipe...

Simple...no burning..lots of space

There is nothing needed. Ran 17/8 uncoated headers with stock wires for a few years and never had an issue.

I've already have MSD wires and the "woven" socks for the wires. I'm still debating whether to get or make a heat shield for the starter, I've got one coming for the clutch line but not even sure if it's needed but it can't hurt. once I get the old exhaust out I'll be able to see if there's any potential problems but hearing from all of you tells me there won't be much if any.

Doesn't hurt to wrap the starter for safety. I never had an issue but did it while things were apart.
Doesn't look great but does the job, and nobody sees it. LOL

No issues here either - running uncoated LG Super Pros 1 7/8 with high flow cats on an LS3 dry sump. The dry sump lines run between the header tubes too.

Daily driver in hot Florida heat (except for this week)

I tend to agree with the "it can't hurt" way of thinking
