I have a 2007 ls2 with automatic transmission. When I drive normally the car shifts fine with no slippage. When I wot sometimes the car feels like it gets hung between gears and if I back off on pedal it locks in shift. Is the transmission screwed? Can a fluid change help this?
When you say "feels like it gets hung between gears", what does that mean? It free revs like it's in neutral? It takes a long time to shift to next gear?
And "if I back off on pedal it locks in shift", what does that mean?
Be patient during the day, it will take some time for everyone to chime in if they have some ideas to offer.

it feels very slow to hit next gear and feels like it tries to shift up but the shift won't come unless I backed off on the gas pedal. I just got this car a little more than a week ago and I'm hoping the transmission is not trash.

Most likely it's doing a 6-2 downshift and believe it or not the power loss you're feeling is by design.
It's called Torque Management as the computer pulls timing to prevent you from breaking anything and/or going sideways on the freeway. Although it can be turned off via a tune, I wouldn't recommend it.
The only definitive way to tell if it's downshifting from 6th gear to 2nd would be with a scan tool, but an unscientific way to tell is the next time you try this, step on the gas pedal a little less than full throttle. I'll bet you the car feels faster and responds more quickly, which would be caused by it only downshifting 2 or 3 gears instead of 4.

Thanks for your feedback- unfortunately my issue is from a standing start. Crazy thing is that sometimes it hits second gear shift quick and the tires light up after shift. Other times it sounds like it is revved out and delaying shift

In that case it's related to as to how much (or how little) traction you get as the 6L80E is extremely sensitive to wheelspin when you launch the car from a dead stop.

again thanks for your reply- so are u saying that my transmission is ok and if so how do i stop this from happening? I just got this car a little over a week ago and am nervous that I got screwed. So how do i launch this car and have clean shifts so I can give my friend a run with his challenger?
It won’t shift if traction control is active, which it probably is at full throttle on stock tires. Turn off traction control and roll into the throttle just to the point where it’s almost breaking loose. You have to either get tires that can hook or modulate your foot.

Car been new to you I would recommend to check fluid level and have a tuner check the tune in that transmission torque management and slippage two different things I use torque management in my car and at wide open throttle it shifts darn quick and it should when all is rite imo.
