Default running a little warm question

my 07 convertible has 15k miles. normal op temp is 198. I installed an aluminum bar grill in front of factory grill...op temp still 198 but creeps up quicker at lower speeds and seems to be getting worse...is this solely due to reduced airflow or could it be sign of a problem. no coolant loss or warning msgs or lights. of course I can just take off the aluminum grill..just wondering if I need to flush cooling system and replace antifreeze?

So first thing I would do , if all was ok before you installed the grille, is to remove the grille and see if the temps go back to what you think are the normal temps that it ran at before

If your car is stock, with the stock thermostat ,and nobody messed with the FAN settings , 198 is not the normal temps that they run at unless you live someplace really cold

The stock stat is not fully open until 195 and most would agree that they run around 200-205 and creep up way higher in traffic

Before I changed out my STAT and adjusted my fan settings I would see upwards of 225 when sitting in traffic here in the South .... I did not like running that hot so ....

thanks for reply...as far as I know car has stock stat and factory settings...at highway speeds she runs at 198 and creeps up in traffic regardless of outside temp. my outside air temp range is from 100 to 30(it actually gets down to 0 but car is not driven at very low remps
