Default Low mount alternator position help...

Hiall any body has done it I will like to relocate alternator so I don't have to put up with the on the top.

Is a mess around the valve cover and #1 spark plug and that big long and heavy bracket covering front engine area.

I realize there's not that much room on the lower driver side area I wonder if any one on here done the transplant.

I realize the power steering pump may have to be re rigged or removed all together which I'm contemplating as well corvettes are not that hard to turn when still with engine off even all the fluids pump and hoses in place.

I found these...

If space is all you want for the Valve cover/coil area, just use the D3 spacer that rotates the alternator out towards the fender some...but it sounds like you want to do some aesthetic "improvements" as well.

Yes that bracket is an improvement but still lives plenty a mess in front of the engine and makes it difficult to work.

These config below is just rite...

There's plenty of room I'm weighing the the wisdom in doing the change as I look more into it after been under the car I can see clearly I may regret the idea of swapping location from a so easy to service present alternator location as it looks like will be a nightmare having to change it from below.

What makes it so different from the 06 GTO (which has it at the low position and lives the top of the engine easy to service and uncomplicated) is the abs block located between the radiator and the left front side of the engine.

Perhaps there's a simplified aftermarket billet bracket that makes easy service possible I don't know about but will like to.

Every time I have to fumble around with the power steering and alternator bracket I find it difficult and annoying.

I been looking at these bracket wonder if anybody has tried it looks simple and uncomplicated....

I see this is a really old post, but this is something I've been analyzing for a while now. With maybe an Electric Power Steering pump. Haven't yet found anyone who has done this on the C6 while scowering the net

I'm not in a c6, I'm in a c5 but I've gone ahead and fired the trigger and got the low mount ict bracket and I have been grinding away at things trying to make everything fit and with the steering rack where it is in the c5 it will just absolutely not fit. I’ve attached some images that show where the problem lies. I’m thinking maybe a mini race alternator may work in this situation but this is absolutely no way without grinding through both the rack and the alternator to make things fit.

If it’s a C5 why don’t you post this in the C5 section ??
