Default Master Cylinder Replacement ?'s

All,

In the process of replacing my master cylinder.

I couldn't get the clip on the master/slave connection and dropped the clip in the frame in the process of trying to do this. So frustrated, this is such a poor design (not just reading about all the issues with this part).

Two questions -

Where can I get this clip? Dealer wants me to buy the whole slave to get this one small clip off the connector.

Can I omit the connection and just run a direct line without these pieces? Do they serve any function? I don't see any sensors connected to them.

Thanks,

Matt

Stock masters are fine. There was a revised design a couple of years ago. IIRC, they aren’t crazy expensive. If you don’t have the latest design, you might as well replace the whole thing.

Anyone know the new part number for the revised unit?
I find two part numbers for GM replacements.
19331709 05-09 model years
19331708 10-13.
Whats the differences?
