What do you mean by “ anything to do with Comms all drop out” ??...I’m assuming you’re using a scan tool so you either have communication between the scan tool and that particular module or not !!...diagnosing these comm issues are a little bit more involved than changing plug wires...if it’s only one module you can’t communicate with the first thing is checking it’s power or ground...I use my CAN test box, scan tool and digital scope to tackle these issues !!...if this is a little to involved for you I’d take the car to an “auto-electric” repair shop !!
Agreed , the CANBUS loops communication thru the modules so you can loose communication from one and the scan tool will show no communication with the rest of the modules on the BUS
My fault Code is U2100. From looking online it’s saying bad computer or possible broken wires. I guess my next question is what’s the best way to access the ecm and check the wiring
Remove the passenger side fender ( its easy ) the ECM is right here , remove the connector from the ECM and spray with Contact Cleaner . If that does not work start removing the cables from the other modules like the BCM , the Fuse Box and do the same
If you still have issues .. depends on your skill level as far as tracing wires and making tests
there are only two guys I know who program an ECM for an 05 , I think Doug from ECS can do it and I know that Chuck Cow can do it but don't know if he is back on the radar as his communication with customers is flaky at best …
OBDII port goes directly to the BCM, then down line from there to the rest of the modules.
So would check the wires from the OBDII port to BCM if over all communication error, then BCM out if you are having problems comunicating with one of the other modules.
I don’t know if you are good with a DVOM but the first thing I would check is resistance between pins 6 and 14 of the DLC (where your scan tool hooks up to)...DO THIS KEY OFF AND BATTERY DISCONNECTED !!...if you see OL (an open) check the wiring between the DLC and BCM...now you should see 60 ohms...if you see somewhere around 120-128 ohms I would start disconnecting the EBCM and see if you see 60 ohms, if bad disconnect the ESC harness and recheck, then the TCM and recheck, and last the BCM.
Call or email Chuck Cow here on this forum, he is a vendor. Chuck will be able to flash you a new computer at a tractor of the cost of the dealer.
I Had my CPU flashed and added the COW BOOSTER. Chuck is awesome and the Cow booster is the most fun and my favorite upgrade on my car so far. I can't say enough good things about Chuck and the work he does!
The COW booster gets rid of my throttle lag. It is truly incredible, instant acceleration, instant power. I can't even begin to tell you how much fun it is. It has made my car so much more fun to drive. Chuck is a professional and expert C6 Corvette mechanic. Not only did he tune and cow boost my car he stopped my exhaust rattle and plugged 2 tires that had nails in them from the drive down. Chuck is a good guy and has the best customer service I have ever seen!
