Just from inferring what I've read, it sounds as if the B8's are designed for vehicles with lower than OE ride height.
About a year ago - I was looking for some Bilsteins for a non Corvette application. The B4 is supposedly similar to OEM damping. The B6 & B8 are a bit more aggressive - but hardly "race oriented". Supposedly the B8 is for vehicles that are lowered.
If you want "more aggressive" damping - you might want to give Doug Rippie Motorsport (DRM) a call - they have Bilsteins that are custom valved. I am running a set, and I'll tell you - they are significantly different than the OEM dampers on my GS. Significantly more aggressive valving. Not recommended for you if your idea of taking the Vette out is to drive the wife to the Country Club on a Saturday night, but if you bought the Vette with the handling package because you want the car to handle - they just might be the ticket...
i have the DRM shocks on my z51. Ride height is about same as stock as measured by how often I scrape speedhumps in my neighborhood. They are firmer than than stock Z51 shocks, but the handling and control are much improved, especially on less than ideal pavement.
The B8 has a more aggressive dampening profile than the B6. The shocks won't change your ride height and either will work for a OEM or slightly lowered (stock bolts) Corvette just fine.
