Default Lost key fob

So a buddy of mine was take my z to exhaust shop (06 z06) , and somehow he lost my only key fob. Ord another fob went through manual to program. States to put fob buttons facing passenger I slot in glovebox . Then open hatch then turn key five times within 5 seconds and message "accessory learn will pop up on dic. Well the message never pops up. Tried multiple times , looked through forums and YouTube to see if I could find anything but no luck. Following instructions to the t. Mind you there is a procedure if you already have a fob and then one if you don't. Any help would be great

I'm currently on my phone so I can't post the .pdf file long instructions. I ran the long program on mine last year to delete a lost fob and prigram a new one. Search and see if you can find the pdf file. I had a problem initiating the program too. It took 3 attempts before it worked for me. My problem I discovered was that it actually did start but by the time I got into the car and set up it had timed out and cancelled itself. It helps if you can have someone either watch the DIC or work the key for you. Once the setup program starts you have to be ready to respond in 10 minute increments.

Thanks for the tip, I had the hatch completely open so I could clearly see the dic , but I will try it again with another person.

You need a working fob to do the short procedure to add a fob into the car.

So no working fob, your need to do the longer procedure to delete all the fobs out, start programming in new fobs, hence the 30 wait timer if you are just using the key to activate the system to begin with.

If you know someone that has a tech II, then VTD reset to program in a new fob is instant with the tool (no wait time) and you could be done programming the fob(s) in about a min instead.

Also note the part about the glove fob slot antenna if the car can not find the fob with it in the glove box slot and the buttons pointed towards the steering wheel to program it in at the bottom of the first post in the below link. Hence the fob slot antenna may have popped out and you will need to clip the fob slot antenna back into it's slot next to the fob slot in the glove box.
