Default Recommendation on power?

Hey guys,

Just wanted a recommendation on upgrading power given my wants / habits. I have a stock LS3 Grand Sport 4LT 6MT with the Goodyear run flat tires. I will upgrade to more performant tires eventually but since they're still relatively new I'll wait til I go through them.

I'd like to be able to floor it going straight in 2nd 40-70mph and have it dead hook on good road condition year-round for the most part (im in Northern California, Bay Area). I love my highway pulls when no one is around, and 3rd is where I wouldn't mind having a little more power. But I'm not a straight-line only kinda guy and like to cruise around in the canyons and mountains, which is actually where I end up doing most of my spirited driving. Basically, I still want to maintain balance so I'm not looking to go with drag radials or anything like that.

That said, after upgrading to better tires, what do you guys think is a good power level before it becomes too much? Stay stock? Z06 level? 500rwhp? 550?

With R888Rs, you could maintain a good balance of straight line and cornering ability. I haven’t personally tried them yet, but I would think they could handle 550whp for your use.

A roll bar and Delring rear lower control arm bushings will likely be a great start for very important safety first on the canyons fun, no kidding see with extra power those rear control arm bushings will cause the car to rear steer sideways under heavy foot.

If you don't mind a lumpy cam sound with heads cam headers and cai will take you to 500 whp with out extra weight and complexity.

If you want 600 whp then a centrifugal supercharger of some kind is the best way to go imo.

I have a 2012 GS 6-speed manual as well. When I got it it still had the stock 18/19" wheels with new GY F1. I didn't care for their ride or traction. I upgraded to 19/20" wheels and went with Michelin PSS ZP. Even with the shorter sidewall they ride no worse than the GY and when it's warm out (above 75 degrees) I have no trouble hooking in 2nd gear from those speeds you listed. By the way my engine is all stock for now...

Oh those would certainly hook up, but at the expense of tire life. And since they are not cheap that is a big downside.
