Can an LS3 engine handle a supercharger
I have a 2010 GS A6 with only 16k miles. I want to install a supercharger but was told by some that damage is of no concern, but from others that it will almost certainly damage the engine even with just a small amount of boost (4 lb). Can anyone with working knowledge of these engines and superchargers provide me with accurate information?

you will be fine as long as you have a good tune and don't go crazy with the boost
yes, anytime you do anything to enhance the performance of an engine without upgrading parts you will cause premature wear, how much again depends on what you do. If you are concerned about it don't do it. 6psi on a stock motor won't kill you as long as its tuned properly, now if you drive around in boost all day everyday you are gonna wear **** quicker than if you just get on it for fun now and again.
I got installed a Maggie on my LS1 with a small cam and stock bottom end and ran 6psi from 55K to 115K with no issues.....after that went bad I went a bit more crazy
find a good tuner and have fun

Just finished another 700 RWHP LS3 an hour ago, tuning a 750 RWHP LS7 now. They love boost, we have 100's if not into the thousands of LS's over 700 RWHP, let alone countless cars in the 5-600 range.

Stay under 10 lbs. of boost, under 600rwhp, get a reputable tuner and you will be good. Yes, the LS3 will handle more, but you are as strong as your weakest link, rods and pistons.

Really it depends on how you're going to use the car.
Cruising around, sitting at car shows, just playing once in awhile will be fine.
Flogging the car to within an inch of its life during 30-45 minute road course sessions will typically have a different result without other requisite modifications.

The LS3 can definitely handle boost as long as it is a healthy engine. As Doug mentioned, people make 700-750rwhp quite often on stock bottom ends that live for quite a while with the right supporting parts in place as well as a good tune (key part here). I usually try and stay at or under 700rwhp on most of them to be in more of the "safe zone", but again many have gone over that with the right combo.

I have a 2011 GS 6M with a ProCharger making about 5-6 lbs boost. ~579 RWHP. 75,000 miles on the car with a custom tune for the blower,LS7 cam, GM ported heads and long tube headers with hi flow cats. Car has not been any problem. I consider my GS and Grand Tourer and obviously drive it regularly.

I push 18psi through mine and it makes over 900 to the wheels. In the 6+ years that I’ve owned it has never been under 640whp with the exception of the first few days of ownership. With proper tuning and fueling they can handle and make good power.
