C6 clutch choice
I have 2008 Z51 with clutch stuck to the floor. Dealer replaced master cylinder, but issue is still present. I'll tow the car to a shop, to take the whole thing apart. It's probably a good idea to change clutch assembly and install remote bleeder while in there.
I can get LS7 clutch kit (with new flywheel and slave) for $250 from LUK, which is apparently OEM. Sounds like great deal.
But does it make sense to upgrade to something better?
The car is not daily driver. I drive to autocross every other weekend, sometimes track days. Power-wise it's bone stock, and I'm planning to keep it that way. No drag races.
But the question comes back to if you slip the clutch a great deal or not, and this will answer the question if you want to use organic or inorganic clutch isntead.
Hence the problem with the OEM clutch is although they will allow slipping a great deal, it's when they are over slipped and your into the motor hard at higher rev's, the clutch does not want to lock up immediately when your out of the pedal isntead.
So lighter flywheel will give you some more HP (but easy to stall the motor on starts), and lighter clutch assembly with better lock up will allow the clutch to be slipped higher RPMs when needed, and when you get out of the pedal and don't need it to slipping still , will lock up a lot faster instead.
