Okay I need a bit of help. I normally keep a better tender hooked up to the cigarette lighter but apparently it got turned off at some point. I've had it turned back on for several days but the battery is apparently really dead. Here's the fun part -- I have the key and the lock turns (clockwise) but the hatch does not open. The passenger side window is slightly open but not enough to access anything. I was able to jack up the front end a bit and get jack stands under it but it's not up very high. I can't see from my limited angle where to hook up a battery. I've searched for pictures to help but I've come up with nothing.
Does anyone by chance have a picture from underneath the car? I just can't see how I'm going to connect anything at this point.
Lift and support Right front wheel/car. Slide under to right side rear of engine. On starter solenoid find largest wire (RED battery cable) . POS and anywhere on frame/engine NEG
Bottom terminal where the two wires come together on the starter is the positive termial that the cable leads back to the battery.
Thank you so much for the picture! We're looking down from the top on the passenger side, aren't we? I don't know how I'm going to get under there with the limited space I have in the garage. (The passenger side is near the wall.)
Yeah I was aware of that but was concerned about applying power to an unknown location. However, desperation was setting in so I soldered up a quick cable from 6' of speaker wire and some alligator clips. Then I used some solid wire as pins to the green (hot) and outside black (ground) wires on the connector. I hit the switch and the hatch popped open!

So, I have my OPTIMA maintainer hooked to my battery and have the pigtail coming out by the windshield. on a Z06, you could have it come out by the license plate. Then you always have a connection if something goes wrong.
So glad I found this old post. Worked perfectly for me. I made sure my key opened the trunk when I put my vette into storage last fall but when I went to get it this week the key turned but wouldn’t open the trunk. The taillight power work great saving me a lot of frustration.
