What does it take to put a pair of 2013 Z06 NPP mufflers on a 2012 base coupe with an A6 transmission. I understand it's. 3" pipe to 2 1/2" pipe but what needs to be tweaked to fit around the automatic trans. Could I just cut the pipes off of my mufflers and weld them to the Z06 muffs?

What exactly are you trying to accomplish? Adding NPP feature to your car? Is so the easiest route would be NPP exhaust that's not from a ZO6 since that uses a 3" pipe and won't mate to your stock H-pipe without some modification.

Yes, cut the stock pipes off and weld them to the new mufflers. The 3 inch pipes are a very tight fit to get around the auto trans, the stock pipes will work a lot easier.
I have a line on a pair of very nice Z06 mufflers that I can get for $200. Just wanted to know if it would be worth the hassle to mod them or should I keep searching for the correct bolt on mufflers.
I had a muffler shop cut my stock mufflers off and cut and weld the Z06 mufflers on my ‘05 back before there was an NPP option. In my opinion it sounded much better than my current NPP optioned LS3. The Z06 mufflers neck down to 2-1/2” right at the muffler, at least they did on the early C6 Z06.

good luck
Simplest way and assured to have no interference problems. Just be sure to mark the pipe's radial location on the mufflers before cutting them off.

$200 is a really good deal. Not only are the "correct" ones harder to find locally and pricier, but shipping is costly and prone to damage.
Has anybody put a complete Z06 exhaust (manifolds, cats, x pipe, and NPP mufflers) on an A6 car? Do the muffler pipes just need to be heated and dented in a few areas?
Many here have done that. "Some" report "difficulty" getting the 3" pipe by the A6, "some" report "no" problems. I don't know why the disparity but it can be done, either easily or with a little properly directed force. If you're thinking in that direction I suggest you do it. Most report it is worth it.
I'm sure owners who have done it will chime in, just be a little patient.
