I have a built 05 with a 402, A&A V3, and some other goodies, I think the heat has about done my starter in.
When the car is hot, it wont start at all until it cools off, even with the battery fully charged and not hot the engine turns over slowly, even with a jump box.
Car is a M6 with a stage 5 rpm trans and Monster Clutch LT1-SC.
The worry here is, the car dying out in traffic and getting stuck lol, so she's sitting for the time being.
Alternator is brand new, optima battery is fairly new, so I don't believe its either of those. Have even tried a different battery and still the same issue.
I found a Powermaster 9509 and it says its heat resistant, would this be a good option? At about $200 price seems good to me.
Had the same issue, just got a stock replacement and wrapped it in DEI heat shield with no issue anymore. The factory starter is fine to use, but just got to protect it from the starter motor getting too hot.

Would start with just replacing the starter Solenoid to start with, and getting a hood heat shield to it and the starter as well.
Also, make sure that the starter it bolted tight, as well as the battery ground connector to the engine block just above the starter too. If either is loose, you can send all the 12V positive power you want to the starter, but without a good ground, the starter is not going to crank instead.
