Ok so I noticed today pulling into my work garage that when I turn the steering wheel I can hear a clicking sound outside . I have no issue with turning but this was the first time I have heard that noise and I am wondering if there is something wrong. Any ideas of what this could be ? thanks.
Does it sound like the clicking is coming from the rear end? If so, it could be the dreaded differential chatter due to the fluid needing to be changed. Many here have had the same problem when turning the wheel to its limit. Apparently GM has come out with an updated differential fluid in which the additives have already been put into the fluid. Do a search on differential fluid issues and you will find many posts. Good luck!!
No its definitely coming from the front left tire area because it goes away when I straighten the wheel up. I tried to see if it was coming from the right side too when I turn but either couldn't turn as sharp or its not making any sound.
Could be the steering rack. Mine does the same thing. I was backing out of my driveway one day and turning the wheel when I heard the pop. Now it makes all kinds of clicking and popping noises when I turn the wheel. About to pull mine and send for a rebuild.
Typically, a clicking noise when turning is associated with a CV joint. Check to see iof the CV joint boot is torn.
Also check the backing plate of the rotor. It may of got bent a bit, and close to the rotor and only touching when turning.
It could also be as simple as a pebble in a tire thread causing that noise as well.
