Anyone have a bone stock LS3 with just a mild tune? I am not looking to do any hardware mods but may consider a tune.
Wondering how much of a felt difference there is after a tune? Any before/after dyno numbers?
Manual or auto? Autos can be tuned to shift a little more sporty, the cars not faster in particular, but you may enjoy the way it shifts more.
Are you in a state that has 93 or 91 octane fuel.
This is is a very controversial topic, and it’s been debated to death, try a google search and dozens of the exact same topic thread come up.
general consensus is that there is a little to be gained, say maybe 15? HP. Some claim more some claim less. One thing is for sure, a pissing contest will start here and I’m gonna get flamed that I’m wrong.
Let me put it this way, GM tried to optimize the car, can a tuner extract more? Probably a little, but just realize that GM tuned it this conservative because to them it was not worth the risk to get closer to the ragged edge (of knock for instance). Is it worth it to you? NOW... watch me get ridiculed for that comment. Every tuner is about to storm this thread promising a night and day difference. Most of it is just one of 2 reasons: 1) they just make it feel faster cause it’s more twitchy. 2) it may be a little faster cause they are advancing spark or running leaner, making it a little faster at the risk of knock.
A tune can make a fairly significant difference. Tranny tuning can firm the shifts and you can raise the shift rpms. You can add some timing here and there in the timing tables. The biggest difference comes by eliminating all or almost all of the torque management. I made these minor tweaks with HPTuners and the car feels significantly stronger than when it was stock.
A few years back I had a new 2014 SS Camaro (Auto/L99 engine)....had a tune only added and it did make a difference in response and acceleration. I eventually traded it in on a '15 ZL1.

jeremy formato from gasproms in tampa florida tuned my 2008 a6 corvette.he put in a 160 stat and a varamam cai.it is the best money you can spend before any other mods.you will probably pick up 3 to 4 tenths in the quarter.it was a different car after he got through with it.
I had my stock 2011 Base Coupe with manual transmission tuned by Tampa Tuning last month. The car is definitely more responsive. I agree that a tune is money well spent. Check out Tampa Tuning https://shop.tampatuning.com/home.html
The Total Street Performance Tune will be a couple of the most fun hours you’ll have behind the wheel of your Corvette!

Yes, very familiar with Jeremy as he has tuned my 03 Procharged C5 and my '14 SS Camaro.
As I stated, I'm planning on keeping my '13 GS all stock and only considering a tune. Jeremy does make visits to Orlando at Corvette Masters and when I'm ready, will check with him on when he plans to be there and get on his schedule.
…..Let me put it this way, GM tried to optimize the car.....
But not for power...….GM went for optimal drivability and durability.
Several companies (Livernois being one) have dyno/street-tuned enough LS3's that they will supply a real good mail-order tune for a stock LS3. Gains will be on the order of 15 to 25 HP at the wheels.
