Hey everyone im looking to get LongTube headers for my c6 ls2, I was wondering if anyone has experience with Texas Speed if i could use theirs or is it worth the extra money for Kooks headers?
Hard to say since most people with only have one set of headers on their car and once they get a set they don't swap it out for another.
That said, I have the Kooks on my 2005 C6 and the fit was perfect. They looked great and tucked nicely within the car, meaning it didn't hang lower than the actually car. So no clearance issues. Good power gains too.
What is the difference in price?
Also, check to see if TSP will actually send you the headers since you are in California (like me). Many stores will say "not legal for sale in California" and will not ship to a California address.
Personally....I would stick with LG's, ARH, or Kooks. I'm friends with a guy who does these pretty frequently. I did my own on my old C5, but never mounted a set on the C6's....but I've heard they are easier.
He stated that out off all the brands he's installed, these 3 brands were consistently the best fitting by far....almost too easy.
Personally I've got LG SuperPros and a ported FAST 102 on my M6 LS2....and with a conservative tune put down 404/407 rwhp/rwtq.
Last C5 I had was in the 470's to the wheel.....and that was with heads and an aggressive cam with every other supporting mod such as rear diff, clutch, etc.
At this point, I'm very happy with the car and probably won't do anymore power adders as it's fun to drive and I didn't have to go into the valve train.
I've installed Kooks, Billy Boat, and TSP headers on C6's.
In my experience they all fit fine and perform similarly, though the TSP do hang lower on the driver's side. So unless losing 1/2" or so of ground clearance is a deal killer I'd go with the less expensive TSP long tubes personally.
I have used Dynatech long tubes with their high flow cats....very satisfactory, great fit with no issues. LS3 really seems to like them in conjunction with the factory ported heads, LS7 HP Cam and Procharger.
The TSP headers are a great value but Kooks are excellent long tubes. We carry a bunch of systems and you really can't go wrong as long as you're getting 304 stainless steel.
Has anyone else heard of Speed Engineering in Fresno, CA. Are their product good such as headers as they are cheap in price. Anyone has experience with them?
You cannot go wrong with kooks for sure. I have not installed any other headers on a C6 but I installed kooks in my garage on jack stands and it was really a breeze. The headers slid in from the bottom so easily. I went through Amazon and saved hundreds.
