Default "automatic" fog lamps?

Is there any way for the fogs to come on as default when the headlights come on? It kind of sucks to have to turn them on each time the lights come on. I'm hoping there's some driver setting that I just haven't found yet.

NO: Why would you want the fog lights on anyway?....You dont get fog in Fremont.

To achieve what you're asking will require some additional wiring. I did it in my then new 11' Camaro. You will need to run a wire to the power side of the fog lamp and connect it to another ignition power source, potentially at the head lamp. I used the power side that controlled my halos. To prevent sending signal (power) back to the BCM and causing an issue, possibly catastrophic, you would need to add diodes keeping the voltage going where you want it. Memory serves, it took eight diodes, four each side, to keep power going as GM intended it with the added ability to turn on my fogs with my halos. I drove it that way for many years before I traded her off with no issue.

Beyond that, there may be a way to default them on, but it would require a dealer with the ability, and desire, to edit how the vehicle operates. I've had luck, for professional reasons, having brand new Ford vehicles have certain lights turned off by the dealer.

It takes literally one second to use the switch. Is that really so bad?

Because I've replaced them with 100 watt 3000K amber LED bulbs. The way people drive here, the more you can do to be noticed, the less likely they are to ram, pull out in front of you with no warning, cut you off, etc. It's a safety thing.

Yeah, when you have to do it every time. Every other car I've had has a manual switch to run them when the low beams are on. Both my 98 Ram SS/T and my 2010 Challenger do for example.

They are fog lights, not driving lights, so nothing even in the RPO's that you could set up in the BCM programming to make that happen.

Yes, we can get the rear back up lights to come on with the fog lights in BCM programming so the rear back up lights become fog lights as well, but not going to get the fog lights to come on with the driving lights isntead.

So the only way to pull off what you want, it to use diodes to jump the power from the driving light circuit to the fog light circuit to have the fog lights come on that way with the driving lights instead. And the reason for the one way diodes, its so power from the fob lights turned on alone, don't power up the driving lights isntead.

Is Fremont getting that bad? I left there in 1990 and it was not bad.

Yep. With the very sharp rise in Indians there has been a sharp rise in traffic light problems. They don't get the concept of traffic sensors and limit lines, so they stop a car length or more before the limit line. The traffic sensors thing there's no traffic, so you sit at lights for much longer than just a couple of years ago.
Then you have the pot legalization which results in daily need to get away from cars that stink so bad you choke on the stench - and if you don't start feeling the effects of the smoke even at freeway speeds.
And of course, all the idiots on cell phones and texting instead of paying attention.
AND, then there are the homeless wandering along the streets that you have to watch out for because they'll step out in the road without warning - or the kids who just run across crosswalks regardless of traffic etc., because "pedestrians have the right of way".

Kalifornia is circling the drain...….
