Default 2005 C6 Electrical Issues

Hello everyone, new to the forum here. Just bought my first C6 and it's a bit of a small project. Not sure where to start other than stating the current issues it has. Trying to find a decent shop to take it to that won't break the bank.

Current codes the vette is throwing at me, ABS Sensor, Airbag Sensor, Fuel system Maintenance Sensor, Tire pressure sensor, Traction Control Sensor. Fuel Gauge doesn't work. Fuel door catch doesn't work so I removed the door.

Sounds like the computer needs to be reflashed or replaced? The car runs perfect other than the electric problems.

Also looking for a replacement glass top. Mine has a very small crack in it.

You have a ***** show on your hands, but most of the problem I would bank are wiring/connector problems, short of some actual pieces that may need to be replaced.

Hence fuel level sensor in the tanks, TPMS sensors since the batteries are dead, and a quick check of the gas door cable release assembly, but the rest I would bank on problems with the wiring on the GM land bus.

As for if the car is a flood savage car, then could be deeper than just a wiring problem, but modules corroded from the inside out isntead.

Bluntly, knowing the history of the car, goes a long way on what needs to be repaired, since if it is a flood damage car, all the modules need to be pulled, their board pulled to be inspected to start with. Once you can see that that the modules are still good, then you can back trace to the wires/connectors to weed out problems there next.

Carfax was clean other than a front end fender bender. No flood.

How old is the battery? So many faults all at once can also be a sign of a failing battery.

Dano always offers good advise.
Yes, history can be important in your case...hoping not a flood car.

OP, are you taking this to a shop for the repairs or will you try to do it yourself on a couple of the issues?

Search this forum for deeper procedures:
1) ABS Sensor - could be hubs or wiring at hubs - inspect
2) Airbag Sensor - could be wring under the driver seat - inspect
3) Fuel System Sensor - need more info, but if the sensor in the fuel tanks, yes leave to a shop could around $1500 repair.
4) Tire Pressure - try to relearn the sensors, yet with a 2005 could need replacement around $500.
5) Traction Control - need more info
6) Fuel Gauge - see item 3 above.
7) Fuel door - cable and latch part replacement.

Unknown if you truly need a new " Computer", but a new battery never hurts.
Let us know you progress....good luck.

DTC codes, list them.
Hence DTC codes will point you at the problems.

On the TPMS's, find someone that has a scanner to take reading on each senor to make sure that the batteries are not dead in them to begin with.
Attachment 48333004

If the batteries in the wheel senors (TPMS) are dead, new OEM TPMS's including having a shop replace them in the wheels, should be under $200.

If the sensors will scan and show up as fine, and are the correct ones for you year of vet, then problem is in the RCDLR/it wiring isntead.
Note, there are 4 different types of TPMS sensors types for the C6's, so it not only a matter of having the correct year sensor for the car, but the correct country as well.

Hence with the cub 101, in can tell if the sensors in the wheels are not only still good, but are for the 2005 to 2009 vets, or for the 2010 to 2013 year vets, as well if the sensor are for the usa model cars, or for the export model cars in these year type sensors. Hence with this out of the way, then it just a mater of putting the car (RCDLR) into relearn mode, to trigger each sensor one at time in the correct order so the car (RCDLR) will relearn them.

As for reading on the DIC, XX usually means the theTPMS batteries are dead, while 00 reading means a relearn programming problem after the car has been driven a few miles. Hence if the TPMS are programmed to the car, and batteries still good, if you disconnect the battery, will have the 00 reading in the DIC until the car is driven a bit to triggers the TPMS's to give the RCDLR the rear tire pressure readings again.

To add, it not just "A" computer in the car, but over 20+ modules in the car that can have problems. The DTC codes will not only point you are a module, but in some cases, a sensor for that module that has a problem isntead.

Take a problem with one of the rear hub speed sensors that the DTC points to, and it could be the hub sensor went out in the wheel hub, it could be a corroded connector problem on that hub sensor connector, and since it a rear hub sensor, or could be a connector problem at the C184 connector that is hidden about mid height behind the battery on the fender wall isntead.

So list the DTC codes, since this often will point you at a problem connector for a slew of problems that needs to be cleaned/addressed.
