I have a 2008 corvette with automatic trans. and I just pulled it into the garage and now the shiftier just moves back and forth without going into any gear, what could cause that?
Shifter cable has a bushing on both ends. Usually the one under shifter fails, but both can. You have to remove consul and shifter to replace. Then reattach to shifter and replace consul. Be careful cable is plastic and breaks easy!!
Just had this happen, it's an easy fix, mine broke from the bottom. I would check the bottom one first since all you have to do is jack the car up without taking anything apart. It's on the driver side of the transmission above the exhaust.

Thanks, I also need to get the transmission out of park so get it out of where it is at? I have jacked up in the rear, can I just move the lever on the side of the transmission?
