I'm trying to find my first Vette and looking at C5's and C6's. I prefer the C6, for sure. I really like the Dual Mode Exhaust option that came on some cars beginning in 08. However, I'm having a hard time finding the right car... Victory Red, automatic, lower mileage, Bose... with this option. I will keep on looking but I do have this question. I notice there is a system or two on Ebay. How easy or hard will it be to install them? As long as things fit, I know what to do with the pipes on the outside (as long as they're the same size). How about the electronics? I notice there is a slot in the electrical box...
I suspect the answer will depend on the car?... base or more?...
Do the different motors... LS1, LS 2, LS 3... have the same size pipes?
Of course, I am waiting patiently to find the car with the system... but what do you know if I buy one without it? Thanks!
I wouldn't put the Bose option high on my list. I've had both and the base sound system just sounds better than the Bose. Do a search. I'm not the only one that feels that way. Chevy really missed the boat on that one. You can add the NPP muffs to any C6. Easier to do with the 09 and up. You need an '08 NPP exhaust to mate easily with an '08 and earlier. You can also use the Z06 muffs easily if you have an M6 tranny with the later models.
When I was searching for my C6, it had to have the following.
Velocity Yellow
Convertible
Automatic
3LT
Navigation
NPP exhaust
2012 or 2013
It took me 6 months to find my latest C6. Found it in June at a Chevy dealer 150 miles from where I live. 2013 Base with 11,500 miles in mint condition with everything I wanted. It is a CPO car with bumper to bumper warranty for 1 year. When I brought it home, my neighbors thought it was a brand new car. They couldn’t believe it was 5 years old. Love the NPP exhaust. Wouldn’t want it without it.
It's easy to swap your "muffler" with a dual mode "muffler" by cutting the "mufflers" off of the pipes and welding the dual modes onto your pipe. Guaranteed fit every time. Or you could get lucky and find a car that already has them.
