I currently have about a 700 horse power engine and my 08 z06. Just wondering if upgrading the fuel system and switching over to E85 and getting a tuned will net an increase in hp?
E85 and flexfuel is like god's gift to high HP cars. How much power depends on your compression/cam and octane limits you have now. Could be 20hp gain or 150+hp gain. Fuel cost is about the same, just have to fill up more often.
With a good flex fuel setup, fill up with whatever you want, and enjoy the benefits and no concerns about finding ethanol. Car automatically adjust.
What do you mean by lowering its value, value of the car?
Means that you will burn about 30% more of E85, for the same gas mileage you get from petrol instead.
Hence you get more power from E85 since it has a higher octane rating, but in takes about 30% of E85 to Petrol for the same AFR/mileage instead.
So e85 if a great thing if your going to be hot rodding all the time, but since you will be burning 30% more of it for just cruising as well, need to do the math if running E85 all the time is worth the cost isntead. Hence with a meth kit and meth mix being only about $4 gallon, may be better/cheaper to run it, if you mostly cruising, and only hot rodding once it a blue moon instead.

Hello and good question,
Naturally aspirated you should see about 7% increase in horsepower, with Turbo or Supercharged figure about 15% more horsepower and less heat soaking on a hot day. Burning 30% more fuel while running E85 carries a lot of heat from your engine and out the exhaust pipes.

I said this in your other thread. The HP number you’re quoting is flywheel. There have been many cars who have tried E85 in your HP range than picked marginal gains. By the time you add injectors and tuning costs, its a waste of money for most N/A combinations.
