Default Help! I need someone to program my BCM in SF Bay Area tomorrow (8/15)

I wonder if someone can help me. I need to get the BCM programmed in my 2006 C6, to select Europe as the country, so the lights work to Euro standards. I'm based in the SF Bay Area and tried 2 dealerships and a Corvette specialist today, but none of them knew how to do it. I have the Euro harness and lights fitted, but the final step is causing me problems.

Does anyone know anybody in the SF Bay Area who would program the BCM tomorrow (Wednesday 8/15)? The reason this is urgent, is because I've got to get my car to the shipping company tomorrow evening, before I export it to my new residence in Europe.

Many thanks in advance.

I tried Corvette Express in Vacaville, Shellworth Chevrolet in Vacaville and Fairfield Chevrolet in Fairfield. Before I cause any outrage, of course it’s possible that I didn’t speak to the right guys at those places.

The only place I would think could do that would be Abel Chevrolet in Rio Vista. Their service department stays pretty busy though.

Call Abel Chevrolet they may be able to do it.

You might try rick at synergy.

But both of these shops are very busy.

Thanks so much for the recommendations. I’ll call Abel first thing in the morning because they’re close by.

Just checked their website... Abel’s first service appointment is almost a month away. I’ll have to do some serious begging!

All everyone can say is no. And you already have 3 of those. Lol.

I have a Tech 2. It contains a BCM Setup menu where you can select the region, i.e. USA, Europe, Guam, etc. I have not tried to change the region and I don't know if this is sufficient to do what you need, but if you run out of options you're welcome to come over and try it.

There is a more involved procedure involving use of a PC which is required to completely re-flash a BCM or pair a new BCM to your VIN. I am not set up to do that.

Yeah, it's super easy for them to do if they are just updating regions. It just takes a few minutes. But, there may be an additional step of changing the RPO activations after you switch regions to get the functionality you want.

OP, if you decide to go back to a dealer let me know and I'll take pictures of the screens and steps to do it.

Thanks to everyone who helped me out. I really appreciate the comradery of this Forum.

I’ve got the BCM reprogrammed successfully. I had to go to an independent shop to get it done. I don’t want to get them into trouble with GM because I was told by a dealership that GM expressly tell them not to do this programming. If anyone wants to know who fixed it, please message me.

Thanks again to all of you. I genuinely appreciate it.

Pretty easy to do, and you just need to go into BCM set up to change the country code. Also, in the second menu after you select the country, you have the option to turn on the back up tail lights to become fog lights as well. So long as you don't reflash the RCDLR, should be able to use the usa fobs and TPMS.

As for the down side, once you select other than USA for country, you can't use the rear key cylinder for short or long Fob programming, and will have to use a Tech II to program in a new fob.

Skip to 3:30 to do BCM set up.
