Just keep in mind that the Vararam system will be pulling air in from low on the front of the car, so keep in mind of water hydro locking the motor is driven through deep enough water, or heavy enough monsoon conditions to cause the same.
Hence this was a concern with GM when they built the C6 since it's slow to the ground, and moved the air filter into the front of the engine bay area, and put the shroud between it and the front of the car. On the Z06, the front nose does have a opening to allow a little outside air in, but not enough water be drawn to cause problems, short of submarining the car in deep water instead.
Current topic of a lad that picked up C6 that the motor water hydro-locked for close to the same type intake system that pulls the air from outside the car ( Hurricane intake ), and is in the process of pulling the motor apart to see the total damage, and if the block can be rebuilt. https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...on-in-ls2.html
Guys let's be serious , if you are in water that deep and traveling fast enough that you forced water up and into the vararam and then into the motor .... you have more problems to worry about other than hydro lock
I live down in the south and we have some torrential rain and road puddling and never once in 67,000 miles was I worried that I would force water up the 18 to 24 inches it would take to reach the throttle body ...
I use my 4x4 Ram pick up if I want to go off roading and driving through streams and rivers.during 7 or 8 years of driving through torrential down pours including super storm Sandy with the Vararam on the car it was never an issue and the car would run 4/10ths quicker with it.do not use your car as a submarine and you will have no issues
