Default Can Battery Be Maintained Using Jump Start Connections?

Is there any reason that a CTEK or Battery Tender will not charge properly when connected to the underhood jump start connections? I would like to connect/disconnect without getting into car from the front of the car rather than the trunk.
Thanks for your input!

Those are fine but why not use the cigarette lighter? It's always hot just for that purpose.

That will work fine. I use the glove box 12v outlet myself.

My ZR1 has been on the jump start connections for several years. I ran a quick connect to the grill. Unplug and go.

What gave you that impression? People have been using that method for years...

CTek makes a nifty little weather tight quick connector which uses a wire with ring connector that goes on the positive lug under the fuse box cover and the other connector to a chassis ground. When you want to leave, you can just turn off the charger, release the clip to pull the charger wire connector off, snap the rubber weather seal in place and drive off. It came with my CTek, but I ordered as an add on, IIRC. The good thing about that is that you don’t need to worry about one of the “gator” clamps slipping off when you’re not around. I’ve been using that to keep my trunk mounted battery fully charged for years now.
I tried to post a picture off it on my car but can’t for some reason.
Edit: I just took a quick look at CTek’s site and it looks like that connector comes with the charger. If that’s what youre using/you were referring to, then you’ll be fine using that to charge your battery.

I was using the jump start connections with a Battery Tender that showed steady green (charged) even though the battery was dead. Charged the battery (only 6 mos old), replaced the BT cables with CTEK cables and the CTEK showed a red light (error) shortly after hooking it up to the jump terminals. Hooked the CTEK up to the battery and it worked/cycled fine. Just reconnected the CTEK to the jump terminals and so far seems OK. Just one of those bizarre Gremlins I guess.

I've been using the cig lighter adapter for years. One of these days, I'll get around to installing one of these...which also attaches to the jump terminals. https://www.rpidesigns.com/shop/item...charger-hookup
